Headlight Switch replacement, remove steering wheel?

I have a 2006 Sonata. Greatest car I've ever owned.
Now for my question:

Do I have to remove the steering wheel to gain access to the headlight switch? I expected this to be a fairly simple job and it's turning out to be anything but simple.

Unfortunately yes. This generation has the headlight controls built into the turn signal switch. Be very careful not to turn the column with the wheel off. The clockspring is a common break in these and not a cheap replacement to be found. Without swps and clockspring assembly affects lights, cruise, airbag etc functions.
