Hello rlo,
I don't believe that size tire will work on your OEM wheel, which is 7" wide. You will need wheels that are 7.5" wide if I'm not mistaken.
2006 Hyundai Sonata OEM wheel specs,

215/55R17 93V 17 x 6.5 wheel 5x114.3
215/60R16 94V 16 x 6.5 6 wheel 5x114.3
225/50R17 93V 17 x 6.5 wheel 5x114.3
-Center Bore: 67.1 mm
– Lug Size: M12 x 1.5
- Stock wheel Offset (mm): 38 - 46.

I wanted to upgrade to 225/50R17. 235/50R17 would be be better match (on 7.5" width wheel). Here is response from tire manufacturer;
"Your original tire size of 215/55R17 has an overall diameter of 26.30 inches. Your vehicle also calls for a speed rating of 93V. The Revs would be 791. Sidewall width would be 8.9 on 7" wheel.
225/50R17 has an overall diameter of 25.91 inches. Revs: 803. Sidewall width: 9.17 on 7 " wheel.
235/50R17 has an overall diameter of 26.30 inches. Revs: 791. Sidewall width: 9.65 on 7.5" wheel.
