I recently bought a new 2015 Sonata Sport and after 3 weeks the sunroof makes a lot of noise like something is loose. Folks that ride in the back complain of hearing a rattling/squeaking noises. Took it in to the dealership and after looking it over said nothing was wrong and that the noises were normal. It's driving me crazy.

Does anyone else has issues similar to this with their panoramic sunroof?

Mine is only 2 weeks old but I have no noise problems with the sunroof.
I have tested it a couple of times and all seems fine.
I do have a problem with the gas gauge the needle never gets to the full mark and a new sending unit was ordered today for it. I’ll keep an ear out for the sunroof noise and get back to you if things change.

I have the panoramic roof and while that itself isn't making noise, the headliner is squeaking/rattling right around the handle on the driver's side and it's driving me nuts! Only seems to happen under 40 degrees

I've got sunroof noise, as well. I don't think it's been above 50F here since I bought the car, but I guess it could be a cold weather thing. I only notice it when the A/C and radio are off and I'm not on the highway. It's not too loud, but definitely gets annoying.

2015 Sonata Sport headliner squeaking

I have my 2015 Sport 2.0T almost 7 weeks. Noticed minor squeaking from headliner after 2 weeks which got progressively worse since then and is now incredibly annoying. The problem does seem to be originating around the pull on the drivers side headliner as a light pressure upwards or pulling down slightly on the handle eliminates most of the squeaking. Creaking does stop on occasion, but just when I think whatever was loose has found its place, the noise starts again. Passengers comment on Hyundai "quality". Do not look forward to driving what is an otherwise enjoyable car. I have an appointment with the dealer next week and have advised them of the problem. I will update after appointment.

1-24-15 Update after service appointment.
Brought car in for 1st service yesterday and requested headliner noise repair and described noise in detail. Dealer test drove car and confirmed noise. They said the noise was coming from the air bag pillar and sun visor area on the drivers side due to a missing piece of foam. Dealer installed "rattle kit foam" then road tested to make sure noise was gone. Have only had car 1 day since repair but there has been no noise and this appears to fix the problem. The dealer handled this very well and hopefully this is a permanent fix.

This is the exact place my car is rattling at! Please let me know what the dealership says. It only seems to happen below 40 degrees or so. Otherwise I feel like interior quality on the 2015 is very good.

Sunroof creaking

I recently purchased a 2015 Hyundai Sonata sport 2T fully loaded with every available option , ultimate package etc. I too have noticed creaking from the sunroof. My dealership informed me that this is a common problem with these cars. I find this very unacceptable for a car I otherwise enjoy. Hyundai needs to address and correct this problem immediately.

I too, have squeaking sunroof noise. I have a 2015 Turbo with panorama roof. The dealership reported the problem to Hyundai and was told there was a manufacturing defect in early production models. There is no published remedy as of yet. A sunroof specialist engineer from Korea flew to Texas to look at my car. He had them grind off some of the seal on the backside of the movable panel and then apply a thick layer of grease to fill in the gap. When I was told of this absurd method I was totally irate. I can’t believe this is the company policy, take a new car and grind off the squeaking seal until there is a gap and fill it with grease. I wonder if they thought what would happen to the grease in the Texas heat this summer. The service department did such a poor job of reassembling the sunroof, I refused to accept the car. I went home and called customer assistance. They transferred me to a case manager and she said I had a valid complaint. I told her I did not want the car after it had been butchered and wanted them to buy it back. She said that she did not have the authority to that and she would escalate the case to the regional office. I should hear from the in 3 to 5 business days. I am still waiting for their call.

I have the exact creaking, and it is often extremely loud and distracting(2.0T limited). Sometimes though its not even there, and I cant discern when. Gonna go to the dealership soon, will post results!

My service adviser said the problem goes away when the sunroof gets wet. The noise in mine went away when the sunroof was open. I suppose the temperature could play a role as well, but I do not know, as I haven't paid that much attention. I just turned up the radio and tried to not think about it.

I just bought a brand new Sonata 2.0T Sport the second week of April. We had the vehicle 2 weeks and could not take this sound any longer so took the vehicle to our dealership here in Newport News, VA. Of course they couldnt repeat the sound so i had to do a ride along with the service technician. Luckily the horrible sound showed its ugly head. I also was having the same fuel gauge issue as another owner stated earlier in this thread.

The dealership first pulled down the headliner and torqued all of the bolts of the sunroof assembly. After that did not fix the issue, they checked with Hyundai to see if this issue had been reported and it had. Hyundai Engineering asked my dealership to put a 48 hour hold on my vehivle so they could send an engineer to look at my car. The engineer determined that the whole sunroof assembly needed to be replaced.

Fast forward 16 days later...i am still in a rental car, Hyundai had a glass company come take the car 4 days ago to cut the glass of the roof out. My car was supposed to be ready yesterday but to no avail. I am just over this bad situation.

My dealership also told me that the fuel gauge issue was normal. Id fill up when my car registered empty but could only get 12 gallons of gas in the tank and it would bever register as Full.

I finally called Hyundai consumer affairs to open up a case number regarding these issues. Much to my dismay, this was not going to help me give back this lemon or get a discount on the vehicle. They told me the Better Business Bureau would handle an issue like that. We all know thats a waste of time.

Here we are 16 days later and the dealership has bad my car longer than i have and justmade the first payment without the car in my possession.

Known problem with gas gauge

Hope this helps it's from a prior post on a different forum. The second entry is mine.

There seems to be a lot of talk here about the accuracy of the fuel gauges, etc. In my case, I can tell you most definitely that this trouble has nothing to do with fuel pumps, senders or gauges. I simply cannot get a full tank of gas into this car without the gas station pump clicking off too early.

The dealership, as with all of you, cannot find anything wrong. I'm wondering now about the possibility that the filler neck is shaped somehow, in such a way, that it is making gas pump handles click off too early...

My analysis of the situation was the same as yours initially. I couldn’t fill the tank up all the way. So to eliminate the possibility of the pump causing it I tried various different pumps. It’s funny because when I first got the car I noticed the gas gauge read less than full about 7/8 full. I know I’m supposed to get the car with a full tank so maybe they short changed me a little gas. I also went through this thread carefully to try to better understand the experiences of our posters. My ordeal took 4 visits to the dealer and two new sending units. While at the dealer on the third visit discussing the problem with the service advisor I learned that it was a common problem and some people (most) just disregarded it. But like he had said before they would get to the bottom of it. On that visit a support call to Hyundai technical was initiated and upon their recommendation the sending unit was to be replaced for the second time. Of course I was very skeptical but determined at this point to see this through. At the forth visit they didn’t want me to wait for the car which I always do and even gave me a new Azera with 53 miles as a loaner. I waited all day for the call. I picked it up at the end of the day and was told it’s done. My remark was a polite “we’ll see”. I was told besides the new sending unit a complete recalibration of the tank control components were done as per instructions from Hyundai technical. Hats off to my dealer because as you’ve read “All seems right” even up to today. Not saying that you’re wrong and this will definitely fix your car but it did fix mine. By the way as a side note I thought I would be more impressed with the new Azera but found it to be not as enjoyable to drive as my car. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the additional information on the fuel gauge/tank issue. I'll reference your dealerships fix to my dealership if they still say "its normal" and do not attempt to fix it.
