I see that 5w-20 oil is recommended, primarily for fuel economy/performance reasons. Less viscous oil makes it easier for engine parts to move around, makes sense. But I also know that thinner oil protects less than thicker oil. Im thinking of going the synthetic route if Im going to keep using 5w-20, otherwise Im going to move to at least 5w-30. Synthetic oil does do a better job of protecting, right?

I'm also going to the 30wt. A 5w-30 syn. will probably get just as good of mileage as the 5w-20 dino, which the car comes with. I'm going to use moble one 0w-30, which should be just a little better.
Might as well just go with 0W40. It protects a little bit better and it's more common. i.e. all major retailers carry it.
