dude, seriously? dont waste $50 on black badges LOL

just do it your self... it comes off REALLY easily, all you need is a hair dryer and dental floss strings..

-take it off, sand the chrome off, (start from rough 500-800 grit and than up to 2000grit for smoothness)

-prime it 4-5 coats

-sand the primer (same process you did to chrome, 500 grit to 2000)

-and than apply 5-10 coats of flat black paint

Oh sweet, thanks man! Yeah i was thinking of just doing it myself, but I didn't know exactly how to do it to make sure the paint didn't come off after a few weeks or months.

I think after black badges and possibly a new grille I will call it quits with the mods. Haha I am running out of money :p

I'm pretty sure we can budge a little bit on the price. Still won't be as cheap as painting it yourself though. Give that a try and then if it doesn't come out how you'd like send me a PM. :D

Hey, I just discovered people with black "H" badges on their Sonatas. The only two I can find are a carbon fiber one on eBay and a matte black one on Importshark.
importshark.com

Anyway, I want the matte black badges, but each one is $50.

Does anybody know anywhere else to buy these or do you know how to paint the chrome ones really well?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I have had good success using krylon Fusion paint (about $5.00 a can)
You will have to sand the chrome so the paint will stick. I don't think you will need to use a primer. The Krylon Fusion paint I beleive only comes in semi gloss black however if you don't like it you can repaint in flat black just make sure you repaint it using standard Krylon paint
-This paint is sold at Walmart -

whats up the fastest easiest safest and CHEAPEST way to turn your chrome H into matte black is by plasti dipping it basically go to your local home depot ask them for a can of plati dip $5 and you spray it on the H give it a few coats till its completely dry matte black and when ever you want the H chrome again just peel the matte black off i did it to my whole grill it looks sick

I loved to have a matte black one on a black car it'll have a stealthy style to it. buying one would be nice. but if your a diy guy and enjoy do things yourself then all you need is aircraft stripper, sandpaper and spray paint. And most importantly some elbow grease for the sanding ;)

Plastidipped mine and love it. Has gone thru at least 50 car washes, touch free, automatic and hand wash and still holding strong.
I'd recommend cleaning the area you want black with a bit of isopropyl alcohol and be sure it is completely dry. I'm sure you've seen many topics covering it but if you want any tips, let me know!

I totally agree...I've fooled around with the plastidip on a few pieces, and no, you cannot go wrong! You get the same effect, even without the sanding/priming. And, if you wanted it glossy, they have a gloss top-coat also.
