Hello all, I just bought my first car in September and I thought it sounded like the perfect car...until I started driving it more. Now I noticed that when I slow down to a slow speed, that it makes a hard thump. Also the air bag light is on, is that a good sign or a bad sign? I know I sound like a dummy but this is my first car and I have no idea about any of this. Please, any advice would be appreciated. It's a 1996 Hyundai Sonata 6CYL with 130,000 if that information helps. Thanks!

The thump could be a lot of things. A good independent mechanic should be able to diagnose and fix it. Ask around among your friends and co-workers with older vehicles for the name of their favorite mechanic.

The air bag light on means the airbag system needs to be serviced. It may not correctly function otherwise.
