Looks like more people are getting into the Sonata, Sonata FTW!
Hyundai adding third shift in Alabama to keep up with Sonata, Elantra demand - egmCarTechIt seems like the U.S. market can’t get enough of the Hyundai Sonata and the Elantra. The company announced yesterday that it will be adding a third-production shift at its plant in Montgomery, Alabama in September to keep up with the huge demand for both models.
The added shift will help produce an extra 20,000 units by year end. The Korean automaker will hire 877 workers bringing the total to more than 3,000.
“It’s definitely going to help us get there,” said John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America.
Hyundai sales jumped 15 percent to 163,573 units in 2012 through March. Sales of the Sonata are up 6 percent and 8 percent for the Elantra.
