Introduction

My name is Brittany
have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L thera 2 series v4.
I love my car and will never go back to anything else. :)
My driving (habits) are very severe. I used to race cars and well, I sometimes still do and my car does fantastic, 0-60MPH is less then 37 seconds give or take depending on the filters and how dirty they are/obviously oil if its low. I travel 30miles to 150 miles depending on the day per way.. my car in the snow has been great (we are moving to Florida in the next two months so we will see as it will be a straight shot)

my car runs as if I bought it new at 108,700 miles!

new owner of a 2011 Sonata SE

Hello everyone!

I recently purchased a 2011 Sonata SE , 2.4, pretty much all the bells and whistles. Nice black paint, 18 inch wheels. Im really digging having it for the most part. Love the styling, love the black, love the stereo and the Bluetooth, and the way the interior looks.

I do have a few gripes that I would like to know if they are common complaints. First, the road noise. In my opinion it's REALLY bad. Engine noise, road noise, exterior noise. It's pretty bad. Is this the case for anyone else? If so, did you remedy it and how? I do have new, very highly rated quiet tires coming very soon.

The seats. I have the leather and cloth mixed seats. Hyundais have never been great for seats. These are pretty comfy, but there are sometimes when they are just NOT comfortable. I'm trying to get used to them and maybe get it used to me haha.

So, I saw a recall yesterday and it describes this next bit exactly. The recall was for 2011 Sonatas with 18's that pull to the left. Anyone else experience this? This is a big issue for me. I don't want an alignment issue. The dealer said the history on my car says the recall was performed back in 2010 or 2011. But, if it still does it.... anyone have this issue?

Also, how is everyone with the engine? I'm coming from a 5.7 liter hemi 380 HP. What's your opinion of this 2.4 GDI? I'd love to hear what people that use it daily think of it.

So my next thing would be what kind of quick, good looking, helpful upgrades have ya'll done? I'd like to put some brighter/whiter high beam/DRL's in. Any suggestions? Also for the fog lights as well. Just bulbs for now. Are there any vendors on this forums for brakes? Any for cold air intakes? Anybody have any experience with brakes/brake kits and/or CAI's?

I think that's it for now. Thanks for having me! And thank you in advance for the replies and info about my questions. I'm sure I'll come up with more in the near future.

Hello everyone I'm new to this whole forum thing thanks for having me.. I have a 2014 sonata for just about a year now this is my first Korean car and so far I'm really liking it, I'm looking to do some upgrades to the exterior of the car and that's really about it, might do some interior upgrades to, I used to have a modified 370Z and I'm done with dealing with engine mods and the problems they create lol. My YF is JR white and so far I've had the chrome grill and the badges and rear deck chrome peice painted black and the windows 20% tinted. Working on a roof wrap and rear window wing next. I'm in Utah and sonatas are popular here but not many modified ones and the shops here are far and few so anything I need done will moat likely be done by me. Although 2011-2014 seem to be an identical vehicle after researching further it seems there's some differences in bumpers, fogs, and some interior things, so hopefully this site will help threw the troubleshooting and give me some insite and ideas. Thanks again

Hello from ohio. I'm going to be looking in a couple years, and joined the forum to see what everyone considers their favorite features of their car now so I know what to look for when I check the used sections of the dealer.

2003 Hyundai Sonata

I'm wh23g3g I just was given a 2003 Hyundai Sonata v6 from someone. I mess around with cars a good bit. I'm definitely not a certified mechanic but I can do some things. I own a 65 Plymouth Valiant, 73 Dodge Charger, 86 Plymouth Reliant, 98 Ford Ranger, and a 99 Dodge Dakota R/T. I'm mostly into Mopars but I plan on keeping this 03 Sonata as a spare driver if it can be fixed economically.

Looking at a Sonata for first time

Hi everyone. I'm currently in the market for a used car. Currently I have two Honda Accords. I have a 2000 Honda Accord that I drive to work. I bought it used 6.5 years with 123,000 miles on it. It currently has 220,000. Best $3,000 I've ever spent. My wife drives a 2006 Accord that we bought new, and that currently has 227,000 miles on it. I like to drive my cars till they die. My cars are running pretty good for now, but my concern is that with them both being high mileage cars, they could die about the same time, and I just don't want that headache. Plus my wife doesn't feel comfortable going on road trips in a car with that many miles on it, and we do like to road trip. So, I would like to get a car now, one that would last another 200,000+ miles, and then in a year or two, upgrade the other car.
So, I'm considering a 2013 and up Sonata and that's what led me to this forum. I'm basically looking at everything in this class... including the Optima.

Thanks!

Hello Everyone

I am Andy, from Orlando Florida. I am a new Hyundai owner just 2 weeks old. I have a very sexy Sonata Hybrid Limited/Blue Pearl and Light Gray. Love the ride/comfort. Don't much care for the Blue Link as the dealership and Hyundai help desk have been of no use. I am hoping that I can find some useful information on this forum that can help repair the love affair with my new Hybrid. I have been the proud owner of two Kia's for 10 years and never had this type of issue with the vehicles. Hope the Hyundai family can win me over. Thanks in advance for any and all help you can push my way.

New 2017 Sport 2.0T

Greetings, new to the forum but not so new to Hyundai. I bought my first Excel in 1987 and my soon to be ex and I had a Genesis Coupe, her car. But I love my new Sonata 2.0T. I've also had the privilege to visit the Hyundai factory in Korea after I bought my first one. I was on military duty for a few weeks in Korea. Even stopped by a local dealership there and bought some oil filters for my 87, that was an experience.

Thanks for the forum, I love learning about cars.

Hey! I'm Danny. I bought a CPO Sonata Limited last month. I'm 37 married with 2 kids. My wife drives a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L. I have had lots of cars in the past, and I would consider myself an enthusiast. When I was younger I got involved in the import modding scene (barf - I know). Since I got married and had kids the car tuning went by the wayside. I still very much love cars, but now the most fun I get to have is changing the oil and detailing. Here's a list of the cars in my past in reverse chronological order:

2013 Sonata Limited (current, obviously)
2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2
2003 Mazda 6S
2005 Honda Pilot EX-L
2004 Toyota Highlander
2001 Nissan Altima
1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
1997 Nissan Maxima
1995 Honda Civic EX
1999 VW Passat 1.8T
1992 Pontiac Grand Prix SE
1989 Ford Escort GT
1988 Honda Accord LX-i
1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
1982 Olds Cutlass Supreme

I have been active on a forum or two so hopefully I know enough not to piss people off around here (I know how to search before I post LOL). I'm really just looking forward to getting to know my Sonata and get the most out of it. So far I love everything about it except the electronic steering on the interstate, and the blue-link system not working (car doesn't receive commands from blue-link once they are sent from the app).

Hello. My name is Jim. I have a 2011 Sonata GLS with about 60000 miles. Have a rear door that will not open at all using outer or inner door handle. Have hit unlock on driver door as well as the remote. I cannot find a thread that addresses this issue.

Also having an issue with not being able to turn on the cruise control. Thinking it might be a bad switch ?

Thanks,

Jim

2005 Sonata

Hey....We have a 2005 Sonata and 2015 Sonata. Looking for advice on brake lights not working on the 2005 Sonata. The tail lights and turn signals work fine. The rear light in the window works but the brake lights don't work. We have changed the bulbs, changed the brake light switch, still not working. Is there a separate box, fuse or module to check. We have a tester and it is not getting power. Thanks

Hello all, my name is Jason. My wife and I purchased a 2017 Sonata SE Thanksgiving weekend. Its in Quartz White with Tan/Black interior. We got a great deal, and could not be happier with our choice. We have about 1800 miles now and are very impressed with the ride, comfort, fuel mileage (24 city/38 highway 31 combined). Has alot of options that are standard. I'm 6'2" and there is plenty of room front and back. This car is definately giving Toyota and Honda a run for their money.

Hi I just joined. I was a member of a Turbo Sonata forum, but my link does not work does not work anymore???? I don't know why.

I had a 2013 Sonata Limited Turbo that I purchased from Red McCombs Superior Hyundai in San Antonio (they are he best dealer I have ever used). In 2015, with 90K miles on my 2013, I purchased a 2015 Limited Turbo. Regretfully when on our first trip in lower Minnesota I hit a deer when doing 75mph!! The air bags saved my wife and me, but the car was totaled! Since we had another car, I decided to wait for the 2016s. After 8 months the 2016 Sonata Limited Turbo 2.0 were still not available (I don't know why). Luckily I discovered that I had a friend that was hired by Hyundai USA and he was able to get me the 2016 Sonata Limited Turbo that was scheduled for the San Antonio auto show!!! Seems that very few 2016s were ever made. Now have 44K miles on my 2016. LOVE IT.

I am retired from 30 years with Yamaha USA. Before that I was in the Air Force and 7 years with Mazda USA. I live at Canyon Lake, Texas - just north of San Antonio.

Recently purchased a 2017 Sonata SE, hoping this is the kind of community where I can find tips, hints, and suggestions for adding things like DRLs, maybe some custom LED lighting.

I've been involved with Harley forums, rooting smartphone forums, and Tahoe forums, so new to this forum, but not forums in general.

Bought my first Hyundai back in '88 when they were barely a step above the Yugo, this is my only other Hyundai since, but two of my 3 kids own Hyundais (Accent , Elantra Limited).
