I have a 2011 sonata turbo limited with 1000 miles on it and my speedometer is off by 3 m.p.h at any speed (going 73 meter sayes 70 i have confirmed this with 3 different gps units. A tom tom ,garmin,passport. They all say i am doing 70 when the speedometer says 73. 33 mph shows 30. And my dealer sayes this is normal. I have never had this problem in any other car . I also used these gps in other cars and the speed was the same on both gps and speedometer. Does anyone else have this problem? My tire pressure is the same in all 4 tires.

I don't have a Sonata, but my Genesis is off by 2mph at any speed. It is normal. Car manufacturers do this for liability reasons. They don't want you to be going faster then you actually are because then they could be at blame for speeding tickets, accidents, etc.

I'd only worry about it if the speedo was off by more then 5mph.

mine is off by 1 mph, so i guess i got the better end, but its off at any speed just like yours, i used 2 different gps, and have been pulled over many times... lol

It's so the car can report better gas mileage then you actually get.

I have a 2012 Sonata Limited & My speedometer is off by 3 mph. At 63 I am actually doing 60 by GPS.
