I just bought a new 2011 Sonata Turbo which I really enjoy driving, but I have found it to be very unstable at freeway speeds. I can't seem to keep it in the lane while driving. The alignment appears to be correct as it doesn't pull at all. Has anyone else heard of this issue? I'm a new member as of today and I joined hoping to get some answers.

hmm. what do you exactly mean by being unstable? car shakes? or steering pulls? because i know that there is the steering pulling left problem with the 2011's.

and at what speed does your car feel unstable? after 60miles?

It wonders really bad in the lane over 60MPH. You actually have to hold onto the steering wheel with two hands to control the vehicle. It acts like it doesn't have enough Caster in the steering alignment to hold the vehicle straight. I've check air pressure and that's fine. I was hoping someone here might have some help for me before I turn to my local dealer.

Also, what's your freeway condition? Some freeways have slight inclinations or very small bumps, specially when the freeway is passing over a street where they use metal plates for these sections and it's not all concrete/asphalt.

Yeah, you definately need to take it in to your local car dealer and see what's going on. If anything wrong, it should cover under your warranty so no need to worry there. Like I said, I own the 2011 Sonata 2.4 SE but I personally haven't had this issue here. Keep us posted once you find out what was wrong with it. It may help someone else in this forum in future with similar conditioni as yours.

Unstable

I just bought a 2011 as well, and noticed the same issue, I have read that there is a recall on front suspension components that I'm hoping will resolve this issue, it sounds like it only effected early 2011 models. I'm still checking to see if mine has had the recall work performed or not, I'll post my results.

The suspension on these cars sucks at highway speeds because they made the suspension soft for comfort. At 60-70 the car fells like a boat. I remedied that issue by istalling full coilover system, now I take turns doing 70 with no issues.

Electric steering

I just bought a 2012 Sonata and have the same problem. It reminds me of one of my old cars with worn tie rod ends. I have to work to keep it going in a straight line! According to the dealer this is normal with the electrically assisted steering and I have to "get used to it". We'll see.....
